What’s happening? It hurts when you climb stairs or when you’re standing still. You have pain in your lower back, hip, groin or buttocks. You may also suffer from sciatic pain.
Pain will generally be worse when you stand or walk and improves when you are lay down (in most cases). It can be painful to sit with crossed legs, or to lie on your side for extended periods of time.
Problem: Your Sacroiliac joints are a critical linkage system between your lower spine and pelvis. In general your sacroiliac joints should be fairly stiff, allowing for only a few degrees of movement.
In some people your sacroiliac joints have too much uncontrolled motion. This could be due to trauma or just extra mobility.
Damage to a lower facet or sacroiliac joint can be triggered by bending backwards or twisting, causing pain at one side or the other of the lower back, into the buttock, and often a little way down the thigh.
Pain is caused by the inflamed lining of the joints that has been torn or caught between the bones.
